A Nigerian institution
building Africa’s climate response
ClimateSpan Initiative was founded to strengthen climate action and environmental integrity in Nigeria, while contributing to regional African solutions.
Work with usOur Story
We started ClimateSpan because the gap between climate knowledge and climate action keeps costing Nigeria and the continent.
Reports get written and shelved. Pilots get launched and not measured. Communities get studied and not consulted. The cost is paid in air that is harder to breathe, harvests that fail more often, and infrastructure that does not survive the next flood. Each of those outcomes is a knowledge problem long before it is a money problem.
Our Impact AreasOur Mission
Strengthening climate integrity and emissions reduction in Nigeria, and across Africa.
Our Vision
A climate-resilient Africa where clean air, low emissions, and informed communities are the standard.
-
Evidence over advocacy
We hold views, but we earn them. Every recommendation we make is traceable to data, fieldwork, or a chain of reasoning we are willing to defend in public.
-
Africa-relevant by design
Climate solutions imported wholesale tend to fail. We work in the language, the institutions, and the lived realities of the place, Nigerian first, continental in ambition, never generic.
-
Partner, do not outsource
We co-design with the people who will own the work. Our best engagements end with a partner who does not need us anymore.
-
Rigour, plainly written
If a decision-maker cannot read it on the way to a meeting, it will not change a decision. We write for the reader, not the reviewer.
-
Measure what changes
Activity is not impact. We hold ourselves to the standard of measurable change, and we share what worked and what did not.
-
Africa, on its own terms
Our long-term loyalty is to an Africa that leads its own climate response, not to any single funder, programme, or moment.
